Would love to know who within Upper Deck was responsible for the designs of the "Ultimate" line.  These Ultimate Star jersey autos are relatively plain but they still pop.

2009 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Legendary Signatures #2/9

I continue to love the designs of the Ultimate Collection cards from Upper Deck.  The sweeping lines on this card are just beautiful, original and fresh.

2004 Donruss Timeless Treasures HOF Materials Chrome Sticker Auto + Game Used Jersey Relic #08/10

Another in the 2004 Sunday theme today.  This is a very rare numbered to 10 auto.  I don't believe I've ever seen another one in 22 years of daily eBay searches.  It's not immediately strikingly gorgeous with its brown and black 2-color theme, but it has its own elegance in the simplicity and the sense of a rare antique from another time.  Glad to have it in the collection.

2004 Leaf Certified Cuts Hall of Fame Souvenirs Chrome Sticker Auto #09/27

Another 2004 Leaf Certified Cuts post today.  I'm generally not impressed with any of the older Leaf graphical designs.  But this Hall of Fame Souvenirs set looks pretty cool.  Key elements are the vertical "wood" slats background offset by the vertical black bar.  The auto isn't the best ever done, but overall the card has good eye appeal and I'm glad to add it to the collection.

2004 Topps Tribute Hall of Fame Green Monster Wall Relic Base and Gold Parallel #01/25

Another 2004 post.  I need to do more of these comparison scans as they look super cool posted next to each other. The green monster relics are quite unique and I really love the look and feel.  I'm also pretty obsessed with older Topps Tribute cards, especially 2001 thru 2004.  Super classic look.  Love these cards.

2004 Leaf Certified Cuts Check Signatures Materials Green #CC-14 Jersey + Cut Auto #3/10

After 22 years working on the Fisk Obsession, this is the first signed check I've ever picked up.  Grabbed it for 26 bucks which seemed like a pretty good deal at the time.  Happy with this pickup, but it seems to me they could have left off some of the check numbers at the bottom and not cut off the top of the auto.

2019 Topps Archives Magazine Autographs Blue Parallel On Card Auto #14/25

This is a really cool concept from Topps to use the actual covers from the old Topps Magazine.  I love the color combinations in the blue parallel so I waited to get the blue one for the right price.

2006 Upper Deck Epic Materials partial Rainbow

I've been putting these together for as long as I've had this collection.  Just last week I finally got my first Grey Parallel # /40.  My new scanner looks absolutely terrible and doesn't do the great colors of this release justice. This card has a Gold # /25 I'm still lacking.  This has been, and still is, a great chase and I still have 4 more cards to get to have the full rainbow of both cards (EM-CF and EM-CF2).  From the upper RIGHT: Orange /185, Red /145, Dark Orange /155.  Second row from right: Dark Purple /145, Blue /99, Teal /99.  Bottom row from right: Green /75, Dark Green /50 and Grey /40.

2007 Topps Triple Threads Autographed Relics 6x GU Jersey Relic spells ROY HOF #06/18

Just won this on eBay tonight and am pretty excited.  I've had a Triple Threads obsession going for a while now and it seems that 2007 is the least listed year on eBay.  Tough to find.  Can't say that these older cards look amazing in comparison to modern stuff, but it's cool for what it was.  Back in 2007 this was probably a $200 card.  I'm glad to have it.

Sat on this one for several weeks.  They were sky high on release and have steadily come down to traditional Fisk auto levels.  This one is a little dinged up, but a really great looking card.

Dreamed about owning this card since its release in 2016.  Finally snagged one for a decent price.  Sweet card of two Boston Hall of Famers!

2020 Panini Donruss Retro 1986 Materials Black Parallel #1/1

Well, well.  It's been a while.  The COVID virus finds me (and you) working from home with a few spare cycles to play, and the need to distract myself.  So back to the Fisk Obsession.  As a rule I've been trying to do a Topps-only Fisk collection for a while.  Not getting into the shabby looking Immaculate autographs as one example.  But when I saw these 1986 throwbacks it really got me in the old nostalgia spot, especially this Juan de Juan (#1/1).  It doesn't show in the photo, but this card is extra thick with a shadowbox-type presentation to showcase the 3-color patch. Pretty happy with this pickup and am enjoying the thoughts of collecting 1980's Donurss back when I was a kid.  Hope you all are staying safe out there.

2018 Topps Series 2 Instant Impact Insert Rainbow

Real simple Topps Flagship insert, but the chase of getting the oddballs and low-numbered parallels of a current Topps release makes this really fun.  Finally just piked up the Gold parallel to complete the rainbow started last year (minus the 1 of 1). Front top left: Black /299, Blue, Base, Red /10 and Gold /50.

2019 Series 1 150 Years of Baseball Platinum Parallel

Some day soon I'll post up the whole rainbow of all the parallels of this release.  For now, just putting up one of my big "gets" in my collection history, that of getting a Topps Platinum parallel #1/1.  I've seen and heard about Platinum parallels for many years and like a lot of those cards, they seemed like a white ghost, something that you'll not only NEVER pull from a pack in your lifetime, but you'll probably never even SEE one.  Had the opportunity to grab this one on eBay.  The fact that it's a Series 1 "flagship" card of Fisk from a current issue is just the icing on the cake.  Love this card!

Well as cards go, this is about as boring as it could possibly get.  The 4-color mask of a dark color, probably black, means you don't get much here.  But it's an authentic Topps Vault piece of memorabilia.  So there.

2004 Donruss Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Absolutely Ink Material GU Jersey Relic Sticker Auto #4/5

This is Absolutely Ink and I absolutely love this card.  Out of all the stuff I've picked up lately, this one went on the bathroom shrine shelf so I can look at it every day.  Graphically, this is a very good design.  Even with the sticker auto, a beautiful card and numbered to 5!  Fifteen years ago this was a big pull and now I grabbed it for cheap!!

2001 Topps Tribute Franchise Figures

Have been wanting to get both of these cards for a very long time, but they come up very rarely and when they do they are usually very expensive.  I got the White Sox version a few months ago and did a previous post on that.  Recently, several of the Yaz Red Sox were put up for auction.  I waited until the third one sold and grabbed it for half of what the first one sold for.  Really fun pick ups.

2011 In The Game Heroes and Prospects Dual Cut Autos with Bryce Brentz

Kinda dig funky stuff like In The Game.  I believe this was before they were bought out by Leaf.  A guy going all in trying to start a card company is inspiring, a dream I will probably never live, and more than likely a great way to lose a BUNCH of money.  I have several different In The Game cards from 2011 but this is the only dual cut auto.  Pretty cool.

2003 Topps Tribute World Series Tribute Relic GU Bat Relic + Green Monster Relic #278/425

I paid too much for this but I love it.  I really love the Topps Tribute brand, probably my second favorite Topps after Triple Threads.  In spite of the 425 print run these don't show up very often and certainly seem to be holding their value.

2005 Donruss Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Marks of Fame Sticker Auto #41/77

Super Cheap.  For some reason I love the sheer glut of cards that spewed forth from the Donruss Corporation in the single year of 2005.  As most of you know, Donruss knew they were losing their MLB license at the end of 2005, so they dumped a hundred cards on the market for every man, woman and child in America.  To this day, 2005 is still the single largest quantity of any year in the Fisk Obsession collection.  Fun facts.

2018 Topps Luminaries Home Run Kings On-Card Auto Encased #9/10

I hope Topps keeps going with the Luminaries set.  The breaks I've seen online are pretty loaded and the designs are good.  On-Card autos, encapsulated and low-numbered is the way to the collector's heart these days.

2018 Panini Immaculate Tweed Weave Parallel Gold Auto #9/10

This looks pretty basic in the scan.  It's better looking in person, but still not an amazing card.  The gold sharpie auto is cool as it's a rare color to get an auto in.  Low numbered.  But the overall design is plain which is a Panini hallmark.  Just seems like Panini cranks out some vanilla stuff to get cards on the street.  They seem more focused on quality products for other sports like basketball.  The photo not showing anything except grey and a sliver of his "7" makes it even more plain.  Lotsa white in the background.  Anyway, here it is.

The Topps Vault 1981 Topps Traded 4-Color Printing Mask - Red

I've been waiting to post this for a minute, got the card before Christmas.  Was super stoked to have a Topps Vault item from 1981 Topps Traded which is the first White Sox card for Fisk ever made.  It's not much to look at on the blog, but such a cool item to hold in my hand.  A piece of baseball card history for sure.

From the auction detail:  Direct from the legendary Topps Vault, this auction features an original 4-color mask film negative. Color separation mask film negatives were used in the set's printing and proofing process. This auction features the RED tone example. Four different colors: red, blue, black and yellow are used in this process. Although this production item is B&W in color, it rendered the RED tones in the finished card.
